The co-terminal double degree programme is jointly offered by The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and The Hong Kong Institute of Education (HKIEd), with the B.A. in English Studies to be awarded by CUHK and the B.Ed. in English Language Education to be awarded by HKIEd. The programme content includes English Language, English Literature and Culture, Educational Studies, English Language Teaching Methodology, English Language Proficiency, General Education and other non-major requirements.
Students spend periods of study in both institutions, following a well-integrated curriculum. They enjoy an extensive range of state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities at both institutions. They conduct supervised teaching practice in local secondary schools and spend a semester studying in a university in an English-speaking country. The programme graduates are eligible for both Registered Teacher Status and exemption from the Language Proficiency Assessment for Teachers (English Language). Graduates from the programme have the potential to follow a range of careers as specialists in English language education.
