Must I apply through JUPAS?
You MUST apply through JUPAS if you belong to one of the following categories:
| Either: |
a. |
Current secondary school student in Hong Kong sitting for the HKALE in 2010 (referred to as "school applicant" in the following paragraphs).
All school applicants MUST apply via their respective schools, regardless of whether they are sitting for the HKALE as school candidates or private candidates. |
| Or: |
b. |
"Non-school applicant" who has either already obtained HKALE results or expects to obtain the necessary results in the 2010 HKALE as a private candidate that would make you eligible for admission to the study programmes offered via JUPAS as listed here, AND you are NOT currently enrolled in a full-time or sandwich bachelor's degree programme offered via JUPAS in one of the 9 participating-institutions as listed here. |
You SHOULD NOT apply through JUPAS but should instead consult the institution(s) concerned for further information if you belong to one of the following categories:
| Either: |
c. |
Currently enrolled in a full-time or sandwich bachelor's degree programme covered under JUPAS in one of the 9 participating-institutions as listed here, regardless of whether you wish to make the application on the strength of your HKALE results or not. If you apply through JUPAS, you will be required to either withdraw from the institution, or withdraw from JUPAS. |
| Or: |
d. |
You do not have any past HKALE results, nor will you be sitting for the 2010 HKALE. If you apply through JUPAS, your JUPAS application will not be processed. |
If you belong to those listed in (c) or (d) above and have applied through JUPAS, your application will NOT be processed and any fees paid will not be refunded or transferred.
Please make sure that you are
ELIGIBLE to apply via JUPAS before submitting your application.
Can I apply through JUPAS as well as to the institutions directly?
You CANNOT apply via both channels for programmes as listed here.
If you are a non-school applicant and have obtained HKALE results as well as other qualifications (e.g. associate degree, higher diploma, diploma, certificate, etc.), you can apply either through JUPAS or directly to the institutions. However, you can only choose to apply through one of these two routes. If you apply through JUPAS and to the institutions directly, your direct applications to the institutions will NOT be considered.
Can I withdraw from JUPAS and apply to the institutions directly?
School Applicants
School applicants are NOT allowed to withdraw from the JUPAS scheme to be considered by the participating-institutions for admission in this same academic year regardless of whether or not they have qualifications other than HKALE.
Non-school Applicants
Non-school applicants may withdraw from the JUPAS scheme and apply to an institution for direct-entry provided that they have qualifications other than the HKALE results. It will be up to the institution(s) to decide whether or not to accept their applications.
They should also note that they will not be considered by any participating-institutions for admission in this same academic year solely on the basis of their HKALE qualifications for meeting the general entrance requirements of each individual institution.
The deadline for applicants to submit requests for withdrawal is 3 July 2010.
