Where can I obtain a copy of the 2009 JUPAS Guide?
If you are a school applicant, the 2009 JUPAS Guide will be distributed to you via your school in early September 2008.
If you are a non-school applicant, you can obtain a copy of the 2009 JUPAS Guide from the following distribution centres as from 9 September 2008.

How should I submit my application?
School and non-school applicants should submit their applications via the JUPAS website at http://www.jupas.edu.hk as from 16 September 2008. An online demo on application submission can be downloaded from the JUPAS website as from 16 September 2008. Before completing your application, you are advised to go through the online demo which will guide you step-by-step through the registration procedure.
Paper form submission will NOT be accepted.
You will receive an email from the JUPAS Office upon successful completion of your registration.
What is the deadline for application?
The deadline for application is 2 December 2008 (by 11:59 pm).
You are advised to submit your application earlier to avoid system jam near the deadline.
Late applications will not normally be accepted after the above deadline.
What is the fee for my application?
The application fee for the 2009 JUPAS is HK$420.
The application fee is collected by the JUPAS Office on behalf of the 9 participating-institutions and is not refundable or transferable to another year.
How do I pay my application fee?
All school and non-school applicants can pay the appropriate fee by the application deadline of 2 December 2008 by one of the following channels:

Please note that the JUPAS Office has no access to your above account information.
You are advised to make your payment at least one working day earlier if you are paying via e-banking / cash at The Bank of East Asia / cash at the JUPAS Office, otherwise you will not be able to complete your application procedures.
Will institutions consider my HKCEE and / or HKALE results obtained in different sittings?
Your HKALE results obtained within the last 9 years (i.e. those obtained between 2000 - 2008) and your current HKALE results, if any, will be available to the institutions for consideration.
Institutions may consider different sittings of the HKALE / HKCEE results obtained by the applicants when assessing their eligibility for admission. In this regard, you are advised to consult the general entrance requirements / programme requirements of the respective institutions.
Do I need to submit copies of my past and / or current HKCEE and / or HKALE Results?
(a) For Applicants with HKCEE and / or HKALE results
(i) Obtained in 2009
NO. If you are sitting for the 2009 HKALE, your current HKALE results will be sent by the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (HKEAA) to the JUPAS Office and the institutions. In this regard, you are required at the time of your registration, to authorize via the web at the "Declaration" page, the JUPAS Office and the institutions to obtain, and the HKEAA to release, the results concerned in support of your application.
Please note that the 2009 HKCEE results cannot be taken into consideration in time by the institutions for the 2009 JUPAS offers.
(ii) Obtained between 2000 - 2008
NO. Your HKCEE and / or HKALE results obtained within the last 9 years, (i.e. from 2000 to 2008) will be sent by the HKEAA to the JUPAS Office and the institutions. In this regard, you are required at the time of your registration, to authorize via the web at the "Declaration" page, the JUPAS Office and the institutions to obtain, and the HKEAA to release, the results concerned in support of your application.
(iii) Obtained in or before 1999
YES.
If your HKCEE and / or HKALE results were obtained in or before 1999, you are required to submit certified true copies of ALL these certificates to the JUPAS Office on or before 2 December 2008. The copies must be
- certified by the HKEAA, or a school principal. The name, status, and position of the person certifying the copies must be clearly stated; and
- clearly marked with your application number at the upper right corner.
Alternatively, you may bring the originals and copies of these certificates to the JUPAS Office for verification.
Please DO NOT send the original documents by post to us to prevent the possibility of their being lost in the mail. The JUPAS Office will not be responsible for documents lost in the mail.
An acknowledgement of receipt of the copies of your certificates will be sent to you by post at a later stage.
(iv) Obtained between 2000 - 2008 AND in or before 1999
If you have HKCEE and / or HKALE results obtained between 2000 - 2008 AND in or before 1999, you are only required to submit certified true copies of these certificates (i.e. ALL those obtained in or before 1999) to the JUPAS Office on or before 2 December 2008. The copies must be
- certified by the HKEAA, or a school principal. The name, status, and position of the person certifying the copies must be clearly stated; and
- clearly marked with your application number at the upper right corner.
Alternatively, you may bring the originals and copies of these certificates to the JUPAS Office for verification.
Please DO NOT send the original documents by post to us to prevent the possibility of their being lost in the mail. The JUPAS Office will not be responsible for documents lost in the mail.
An acknowledgement of receipt of the copies of your certificates will be sent to you by post at a later stage.
(b) For Applicants with HKCEE and / or HKALE Aegrotat Certificate(s)
If you have been awarded an aegrotat certificate by the HKEAA in 2009 and / or between 2000 - 2008, information on your aegrotat award will be sent by the HKEAA to the JUPAS Office and the institutions. In this regard, you are required at the time of your registration, to authorize via the web at the "Declaration" page, the JUPAS Office and the institutions to obtain, and the HKEAA to release, the results concerned in support of your application.
If you have been awarded an aegrotat certificate by the HKEAA in or before 1999, you are required to submit certified true copy of the certificate to the JUPAS Office on or before 2 December 2008. The copy must be
- certified by the HKEAA, or a school principal. The name, status, and position of the person certifying the copies must be clearly stated; and
- clearly marked with your application number at the upper right corner.
Alternatively, you may bring the original and copy of the certificate to the JUPAS Office for verification.

Do I need to submit copies of my additional qualifications?
If you have additional qualifications as listed in here, you are required to enter the information in your application and submit certified true copies of only the entry with the highest level / score attained to the JUPAS Office no later than 29 June 2009.
The copies must be
- certified by the issuing authority concerned, or a school principal. The name, status, and position of the person certifying the copies must be clearly stated; and
- clearly marked with your application number at the upper right corner.
Alternatively, you may take the copies of these certificates with the originals to the JUPAS Office for verification.
Please DO NOT send the original documents by post to us to prevent the possibility of their being lost in the mail. The JUPAS Office will not be responsible for documents lost in the mail.
Certified true copies of these certificates not received by the JUPAS Office on or before 29 June 2009 will NOT be taken into consideration.
Please note that the final decision on admission will be subject to the authentication of such other qualifications as listed in your application. Your application may be disqualified, or the institutions may withdraw their offers if you are not able to produce such copies of certificates when required.
Any fees paid will not be refunded.
How do I know if copies of my additional qualifications have been received by the JUPAS Office?
Submission on or Before the Application Deadline
If you have submitted certified true copies of these certificates to the JUPAS Office on or before the application deadline (i.e. 2 December 2008), you may login onto the JUPAS online application system to check the submission status as from 19 December 2008 onwards.
Submission on or After the Application Deadline
If you have submitted certified true copies of these certificates to the JUPAS Office after the application deadline (i.e. 2 December 2008), you may login onto the JUPAS online application system to check the submission status 2 working days after the copies are received.
Alternative Chinese Language Qualifications
As from the 2008 cycle, JUPAS UGC-funded institutions will consider, for the purpose of satisfying their entrance requirements, alternative qualification(s) in Chinese Language (such as those under GCSE, GCE and IGCSE) under specified circumstances in lieu of general Chinese Language requirement for applicants seeking admission to the UGC-funded institutions under JUPAS. Either of the following specified circumstances has to be met before consideration will be given to the alternative qualification(s) in Chinese Language attained:
- the student has learned Chinese Language for less than six years while receiving primary and secondary education; or
- the student has learned Chinese Language for six years or more in schools, but has been taught an adapted and simpler curriculum not normally applicable to the majority of students in our local schools.
Both school and non-school applicants who have met one of the above specified circumstances should apply to their last school attended for certification. Further information on procedures in relation to the certification of specified circumstances, the alternative Chinese Language qualifications accepted by individual institutions, the minimum grading required, and any specific requirements of individual undergraduate programmes are available at the website of the Education Bureau (EDB) or may contact EDB at 3540 7449.
Certification from schools and certified true copies of their respective alternative Chinese Language qualifications must be submitted to the JUPAS Office no later than 29 June 2009. The above documents not received by the JUPAS Office on or before the above deadline (i.e. 29 June 2009) will NOT be taken into consideration by the UGC-funded institutions.

You are advised to login onto the JUPAS online application system from time to time to check the updated information.
What if I decide to withdraw my JUPAS application?
You should inform the JUPAS Office immediately in writing. Alternatively, you can login onto your account, go to Update Personal Data -> Withdraw from JUPAS. An acknowledgement of your withdrawal will be sent to you by post for your record.
Will I be invited to interviews or tests?
From February 2009 onwards, you may be invited to participate in orientation events, sit for tests or attend interviews. This will depend on the programmes you have applied for. Institutions concerned will contact you either via mail, or SMS (if you choose to receive one), or personal email, or "Check Email" in your JUPAS online application system, or institutions¡¦ website. In this regard, please ensure that your email address, telephone number, and correspondence address are correct, otherwise you may not receive important messages and correspondences from the institutions and the JUPAS Office.
If you are not invited to an interview or test, it does not mean that you are not being considered, as not all applicants are invited to tests or interviews. Each institution and programme has its own method of selection.
Before attending interviews or tests, please remember to obtain permission from your school for leave of absence if they are scheduled during your school hours. If you are unable to attend an interview or test, please inform the relevant institution in advance so that alternative arrangements may be made for you, if possible.

Reference Report
School Applicant
Your reference report should be completed by your school principal, or by a teacher who is authorized by your school principal to do so.
Non-school Applicant
You may download the Reference Report on the Web for completion by a referee. However, you may also choose not to submit one.
The reference report, if available, must be completed and returned to the JUPAS Office on or before the deadline of 2 December 2008.
Use of information in your application form
All the information we collect from your online application form, inclusive of the HKID card number and examination results as specified below, will be used for the following purposes:
- as a basis for all types of processing relevant to the 2009 admissions to programmes offered by the participating-institutions through JUPAS, and for all other related purposes, including identifying multiple applications, checking records of your studies as a student in any of the JUPAS participating-institutions;
- for the JUPAS Office / JUPAS participating-institutions to obtain from the HKEAA your HKALE and HKCEE results, and from the relevant institutions information about your candidature for public examinations and studies in institutions in Hong Kong and elsewhere;
- upon successful outcome of your application, for transferring to the student record system of the relevant institution and for use in activities in support of your study including those conducted by the student organisations and subsequently in alumni activities upon your graduation; and
- for statistical and research purposes (personal identifiers such as name, HKID card number, address, and telephone number will be deleted).
In accordance with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, you have the right to access, correct and update your own information. You can login onto the JUPAS online application system to enquire, update and print a copy of your personal data. If you wish to request a copy of the application you have submitted, you must submit your request in person to the JUPAS Office. The following fee will be charged for each request:

False statements / omissions
If you make false statement(s) or omit significant information in your application form, your application may be disqualified, or the institutions may withdraw or amend their offers, or terminate your registration / studies. Any fees paid will not be refunded.
