Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery 內外全科醫學士
MBBS
Short Description
The MBBS curriculum is designed to train not only future doctors, but also compassionate, well-rounded individuals. In addition to hospital-based training, students gain valuable first-hand experience in a wide range of community settings, including family medicine clinics, maternal and child health services, hospices, and patient support groups. These experiences provide a deeper understanding of the diverse healthcare needs of patients and communities.
Problem-based, small-group tutorials place students at the centre of the learning process. Through active discussion and collaborative problem-solving, students develop critical thinking skills, take ownership of their learning, and learn to evaluate knowledge from different perspectives. The interactive format also strengthens communication, teamwork, and leadership abilities that are essential in medical practice.
A strong emphasis is placed on ethical principles and humanitarian values, which form the foundation of quality healthcare. Through programmes and learning activities in medical ethics, law, and the medical humanities, students gain an understanding of the professional, legal, and ethical responsibilities of doctors while cultivating compassion, integrity, and respect for patients.
Early clinical exposure enables students to apply classroom learning in real-world settings from the outset of their studies. Through hands-on experience and guided reflection, students build confidence and professional competence. The Assistant Internship further enhances their readiness for clinical practice.
The curriculum also embraces inter-professional education, reflecting the collaborative nature of modern healthcare. Students have opportunities to learn and work alongside peers from medicine, Chinese medicine, nursing, and pharmacy, preparing them to thrive in multidisciplinary healthcare teams and deliver patient-centred care.
